The name Selenite comes from ancient Greek, meaning Moon and MoonGlow.  The gypsum based crystal acts as a natural fiber optic network for light.

[Stones] emit measurable frequencies of radiation in the range of infrared and ultraviolet, as well as of visible light. And although radiation from crystals is of a low intensity, because of its regularity and duration it does have great effect! For comparison, imagine a vibrating guitar string, which can barely be heard in a room, but that sounds beautifully loud through the medium of the guitar’s wooden body. Analogously, the weak radiation of a crystal may at times cause a strong reaction in our organism.”

Selenite has been measured through biofeedback to positively affect the human Aura.  Tests have also shown that negative ions are generated by selenite, comparable to being in an area with abundant plant life.

Selenite is renowned to possess healing qualities, and has been said to buffer and diffuse any potential “dirty electricity’” caused by the multitude of electronics in use constantly around us.

Selenite is measured as a Mohs Hardness of 2 with a monoclinic crystal structure crystal system or three-dimensional geometric arrangement having three unequal axes of which one is at right angles to the other two.
Crystalline variety of Gypsum.

Tests in modern times have shown that when liquids/foods have been placed on or near Selenite, their chemical composition is changed.  Selenite is made up of 70% water.  Just like our Body.

  • The atoms of Selenite vibrate at one of the highest rates of all crystals 10 hz
  • Tests in modern times have shown that when liquids/foods have been placed on or near Selenite, their chemical composition is changed.
  • Other beverages tested have shown a change in measurement on the infrared spectrum.
  • Tests have also shown that negative ions are generated by selenite, comparable to being in an area with abundant plant life.

Lithotherapy, practiced commonly through homeopathy in France in the mid 1900’s has prized Selenites ability to not take on any negative aspects as other stones can.  Their belief was that Selenite was one of the rare stones that was able to neutralize energies around it.

Being that Selenite is a fragile stone, it will dissolve in water over time.  It is not recommended to wash under running water or leave outside in the rain.  Unless you wanted some small rough pieces to supercharge your food garden, as it slowly melts into  the soil.

All of  our Selenite is sourced and hand carved by family and local villagers in Morocco.  We only buy once a year when they come to the USA with their creations, to lower any carbon emissions.  This is the highest quality Selenite we have seen in years.  It maintains the optical clear as well as the striations that are naturally occurring in this amazing crystal.
